3 matches, 2 runs: CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja has his say on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s place in Playing XI

Chennai Super Kings have lost 3 games on the trot and are on the 9th position currently on the points table.

Ruturaj Gaikwad emerged as one of the greatest finds of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. The right-handed batsman amazed everyone with his skills and went on to win the Orange Cap. However, the start to his 2022 edition of the IPL has been abysmal to say the least. After a string of poor performances, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja has come in support of the batsman who was their star in the last season of the IPL.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja backs Ruturaj Gaikwad

The Chennai team hasn’t got off to a good start in the ongoing season of IPL as they have lost all the 3 matches, they have played so far. One of the biggest concerns for them is their batting which has looked scratchy. Ruturaj Gaikwad, in particular, has looked off colour and has only scored 2 runs in the 3 games he has been a part of. When asked whether he is concerned about Gaikwad, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja backed the batsman and made it clear that they need to give him (Gaikwad) time.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja who was given the responsibility of leading the team just before the tournament started, has come in defence of Gaikwad. In the conference after the match, Jadeja said, “We need to give him confidence as we all know he’s a very good player. I’m sure he will come good.” Jadeja has backed the batsman and has shown faith in his ability and believes that he will definitely perform well for his team which the CSK team needs a lot.

Talking about the loss in the third game, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja said, “I think we lost too many wickets in the powerplay and didn’t find momentum from ball one. We need to find a way to come back stronger.” The team definitely needs to bounce back and come to winning ways or it will get really tough for them to move up the ladder on the points table.

Chennai Super Kings will play their 4th game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 09th April. The CSK team is on the 9th position currently with no win to their name. The only team that’s below them is Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the teams will battle hard to open their account on the points table and the clash is surely going to be exciting for the fans.
