5 overseas pacers Lucknow Super Giants eying for Mark Wood’s replacement

The England pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League due to an elbow injury.

As the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League approaches, the teams are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations. With two new teams in the league, the competition will only get tougher. Lucknow Super Giants is one of the two teams that will be debuting in the IPL; however, they have faced a huge blow and are looking for Mark Wood’s replacement as the England pacer has been ruled out of the upcoming league.

The Lucknow Super Giants bought Mark Wood for INR 7.5 crore and the pacer could have proven to be lethal for the franchise. Unfortunately, the pacer sustained an injury while he was fulfilling his nation’s duty against West Indies. Wood suffered an elbow injury in the first Test against the Windies and has subsequently been ruled out of the upcoming season of the IPL. The new entrant is now looking for Mark Wood’s replacement and there are 5 overseas pacers they can replace him with.

Andrew Tye

One of the first names on the list is Andrew Tye who went unsold in the Mega-Auction 2022. Tye has been part of the Rajasthan Royals, however he hasn’t got as many chances as he would have liked. He performed really well in the Big Bash League 2021-22 which makes him an instant pick.

Jayden Seales

The second name on this list is Jayden Seales who had the base price of INR 50 lakh but went unsold. The Windies bowler has been impressive in the Tests and comes with an experience of Caribbean Premier League. His tall height and young enthusiasm could be used well by the Super Giants.

Blessing Muzarabani

Another player who went unsold in the Mega Auction is Blessing Muzarabani who has impressed everyone with his exploits in Pakistan Super League 2022. He comes with a lot of experience and can be a very good option for the new franchise.

Josh Little

Another promising bowler is the Irish player Josh Little who became the second youngest to play T20I Cricket at 16 years and 309 days old. He could be another player the Giants could use as Mark Wood’s replacement.

Ali Khan

The last player on the list is a comparatively less known name who comes from USA. Ali Khan was part of KKR in 2020 but was ruled out due to an injury. He has played different leagues around the world and can bring that experience for the team. The fans are waiting for Lucknow Super Giants as to who they will announce as Mark Wood’s replacement. The team will play their first fixture against Gujarat Titans on 28th March.
