Multiple awe-worthy performers were unearthed during the ongoing 2021 T20 World Cup. The majority of these performers are slower bowlers, since the pitches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah have provided help to them. But hey, the pitches in IPL aren’t any different. So, with IPL Mega Auction coming up in December, SportsTime247 looks at 5 such performers who are likely to get an IPL contract on the back of their successful WC stint.

1. Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa is a 29-year-old leg spinner from Australia. He’s been one of the best T20I spinners for quite some time now. Still, he hasn’t been a regular feature in the Indian Premier League. However, the scenario may change in the upcoming Mega Auction. Zampa bagged 11 wickets from in the Super-12 stage; Most for any bowler. Zampa’s best performance came against Bangladesh, where he picked a five-wicket haul for just 19 runs.

2. Wanindu Hasaranga

There’s a reason why Hasaranga is touted as Sri Lanka’s future. Hasaranga bowls leg-break, and boy… isn’t he darn good at it? He featured in nine World Cup matches across the qualifiers and Super-12 stage, taking 16 wickets in the process.

Hasaranga also has a knack of batting well when it matters, and the same was reflected in his destructive cameo against England. With quality all-rounders being a rare commodity, expect Wanindu to start a bidding war in the upcoming IPL auction.

3. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Ur Rahman came out as Afghanistan’s unlikely hero. He managed to steal the spotlight despite playing alongside T20 stalwarts in Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. Mujeeb bowled 12 overs across a span of three matches, picking 6 wickets at an economy of 5.42 runs per over. He is super young. He takes wickets. He’s economical. Strangles opposition in the powerplay. What more does an IPL franchise need?

4. Rassie Van Der Dussen

Rassie Van Der Dussen is a late bloomer in the international circuit. This 32-year-old South African was an underrated batter for ages, but he made sure that perception changed. In T20 WC 2021, Rassie amassed 177 runs from 5 innings, remaining unbeaten in two and averaging 59.

His 94* off 60 balls against a strong English attack is a testimony to the destruction he can bring upon. He can anchor in tricky chases and also go ballistic when the need be: A perfect team man who’ll be chased by multiple IPL franchises. Also, he’s a good leader.

5. David Wiese

Last but not least. Wiese used to ply his trade for SA until a while ago. But in the 2021 T20 World Cup, he played for an associate nation in Namibia. David’s hitting prowess and cunning change-ups were the main reason Namibia qualified for the Super-12 stage and managed to beat developed teams like Scotland and Ireland.

With the willow, he scored 227 runs at an average in excess of 45. With the ball, he always provided his team important breakthroughs. Age isn’t on David Wiese’s side, but he did decently when he played for RCB in 2016 IPL. Therefore, expect him to reap good rewards in December’s Mega Auction.
