Ever since it’s inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was set to become one of the most prominent names in the global T20 circuit. With each passing year, the teams set new highs in the league and captains who led their teams to career reckoning glories. Among the six victorious teams have been captains who have won the league on multiple ocassions. 3. Gautam Gambhir – 2nd most wins as captain
Till date, Gautam Gambhir stands second behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni when it comes to captains with the most wins in the Indian Premier League. Gambhir’s captaincy at the IPL spanned across 11 years during which he captained the Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders.
He led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their first title in 2012 and following it up with a second title in 2014. Gambhir’s record as captain stands at 71 wins out of the 129 games in which he led his side.
2. Mahendra Singh Dhoni – Highest Win Percentage
He’s been one of India’s most successful cricket captains and has managed to carry the same success over to his IPL team, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After leading CSK to their first title in 2010, he was ever Indian player to lead his side to the IPL crown.
Dhoni’s record as a skipper spans across 189 matches till date, of which he has won 110 at a win percentage of 58.51%. With over 100 wins, it by far makes him the most experienced captain in the lot when it comes to winning games. However, Dhoni’s stats also include his stint as captain of the Rising Pune Supergiants. If Dhoni’s CSK had beat Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019 title match, he would have been the most dangerous captain in IPL in our list.
1. Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous IPL Captain
Rohit Sharma started his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers before moving to the Mumbai Indians and eventually going on to lead the side. Over the years, Sharma went on to become the most successful captains in the history of the IPL.

He leads the stats when it comes to most titles won as also the highest winning percentage. Sharma led the Mumbai Indians to the title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. He also leads the highest win percentage for a captain with 60.16% (across 100+ matches).
As the stats go, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir played dominant roles during their stints as captains.
