The second test match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club saw the men-in-green impose a significant beatdown on their hosts. The Babar Azam-led tourists registered a victory by an innings and 147-runs, whitewashing the series with a perfect 2-0 scoreline.
Pakistan complete 2-0 drubbing over Zimbabwe
Pakistan had plenty to cheer for in the performances of their ‘Ali quartet’; namely players Hasan, Abid, Azhar, and Nauman Ali. While Abid and Azhar scored an impressive century each- with Abid going even further to hit his maiden test double-century; Nauman and Hasan starred with individual five-wicket hauls across the two Zimbabwean innings. 34-year-old Nauman especially- competing in what was just his fourth match in the international format- gave a strong exhibition of his all-round skills; scoring 97 with the bat and picking up 5/86 in the third innings.
With as many as four of their Ali’s registering such comprehensive performances, it’s hardly a surprise that one of them finds a spot on our highlights reel from the Zim-Pak match. And this time, it’s Hasan Ali who gets to hog all the limelight; although not as much for his impressive bowling spell in the first innings.
Hasan Ali and Luke Jongwe involved in sledging battle
The third day of the Zimbabwe-Pakistan game saw drama unfurl on-field, as Hasan engaged in a fiery faceoff with Zimbabwe’s Luke Jongwe. It all started from the third delivery of the 49th over of Zimbabwe’s second innings. After bowling his first two deliveries, Hasan tried to provoke Jongwe by directing some inaudible verbal sledges in his direction. But his transgressions didn’t go unnoticed by Luke; as on the very next delivery, Luke smoked him for a fine four through the covers.
Hasan, however, remained unfazed from conceding the boundary and charged down the pitch to exchange a few more words with his Zimbabwean counterpart. The stump mics caught him loudly asking ‘What?’ from Jongwe. By this point, even the on-field umpires had to intervene and ask the two gentlemen to give it a rest. Ultimately, Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammed Rizwan had to walk up to Hasan and drag him away from the banter.
In case you missed it.

The banter, while a bit heated at times, seemed rather casual; more so after both players were seen smiling after their brief ‘chat’. But the funny aftermath that followed truly takes the cake from the Hasan-Jongwe face-off.

Jongwe signals Hasan to stop; Hasan Ali sticks out his tongue
Hasan had completed the run-up for his fifth delivery and was just about to pitch the ball when Jongwe pulled out from the stumps. Apparently, he wasn’t ready yet. An on-song Hasan had to start his run-up all over again; but this time, he did it by sticking out his tongue at Jongwe! Talk about a fun way of getting under your opponent’s skin. Here’s the video of Hasan and his hilarious reaction towards Jongwe:
