The BCCI has chalked out the plan for the remainder of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League and has decided to organize the tournament in UAE during the September-October window. IPL 2021 second leg is all set to be organized abroad, however, a lot of foreign players have backed out and are refraining from being part of the tournament. Recently, one of the costliest players of IPL, Pat Cummins expressed that he won’t be a part of the rest of the league.
The 14th edition of the tournaments was halted midway as Coronavirus crept in the camps and many players and staff members were tested COVID positive. The league also faced a lot of criticism from people and was finally postponed. There were speculations that the remainder of the tournament may not even take place, but IPL 2021 Second Leg is happening and fans are really excited about the same.
IPL 2021 Second Leg face fresh trouble
Though the plan for the resumption of the league is in place, the BCCI is finding it hard to bring in foreign players as they have commitments for their respective countries as well. Amidst all this, some fresh trouble has found its way to the IPL. The Australian Cricket Board is now planning to organize a Tri-Series which will have West Indies & Afghanistan as well. If this happens, a lot of international players from these 3 countries won’t be able to be a part of the IPL 2021 Second Leg.
Trevor Hohns, the Australian chairman of selectors has even gone on to say that the players must give priority to the nation and they must do without the IPL for the sake of their country. On the other hand, BCCI is still confident that many foreign players will take part in IPL 2021 Second Leg and they will be able to conduct the tournament successfully. Currently, the Indian players are all prepped up for the WTC Final which is starting tomorrow.
