Ever since Ricky Ponting has taken over as Delhi Capitals’ head coach, the team’s fortunes have turned for the better. IPL 2021 saw them become the table-toppers at the league stage before they crashed out of the tournament in 2nd qualifier, ending the tourney as 2nd runner-ups. Last year was even better for them as they finished as 1st runner-ups, making it to the season’s finale against Mumbai Indians.
Rishab Pant trolls Ricky Ponting on his daughter’s 13th birthday
The recent turn-around we talked about has a lot to do with the special bonding between Ricky Ponting and the players. He’s mostly seen having fun with the squad. Especially Rishab Pant. The Delhi Capitals’ skipper shares a very pure bond with Punter and the same is reflected in the way he wished Punter’s daughter on her birthday.
Ponting recently posted a photo with his eldest child, Emmy Charlotte Ponting as she turned thirteen. “I can’t believe I’m a father of a teenager, happy birthday to our beautiful girl,” read his Instagram post’s caption. Here’s the post

Being the mischievous kid that he is, Pant couldn’t resist pulling his coach’s leg while commenting on the post. Wishing Emmy on her birthday, Rishab wrote, “We can believe Rick(Ricky Ponting) coz you are getting old hahaha. Not a youngster anymore and happy birthday.” As expected, the comment left netizens in laughter, garnering more than three thousand likes in the process.

Ponting, who’s 46 now, was an absolute legend of his era and his tally of 71 hundred is bettered only by Sachin Tendulkar. The Delhi Capitals head coach now moves back to Australia to spend some quality time with three young kids and Rianna Jennifer Cantor, who he’s been married to for 19 plus years. On the other hand, Pant now moves his focus to the upcoming T20 World Cup, where Team India starts its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan come October 24.
