In the 2021 edition of the IPL, Moeen Ali was used as a frontline spinner by MS Dhoni. The skipper brought Ali in the powerplay overs and the bowler did really well for the team. Ali was given the chance to bat at No.3 by the CSK captain and that did wonders for the English cricketer. MS Dhoni came as a lifesaver for Ali and saved his international career in the T20 format.
In a recent interaction with the official broadcasters, Moeen Ali said, “Playing for CSK gave me a lot of confidence. They showed a lot of faith in me right from the time when I was bought at the auctions. As a player you want that sometimes… It felt like I was a very important part of the squad. And I was happy to repay their faith”.
