KL Rahul has opened up about his friendship with all-rounder Hardik Pandya after the controversies on a talk show where the duo got counterblast on social media for their views on women. In an interview with Bombay Times, KL Rahul opened on many topics like his relation with Hardik, the World Cup change and Social Media boos.
On the controversy, KL Rahul said, “I won’t lie. I was bitter for a bit; it affected and bothered me a lot. I was angry, but I came out of it all as a more accepting person. I understood that certain things are sensitive, and no matter what you do, certain people will find the bad in you,”
When Rahul was asked about how the controversy affected his friendship with Hardik? he replied “It was hard for both of us. We did speak to each other about it while this whole investigation was on, we learnt from the situation, accepted it, and now we are back to being good friends.”
“We literally spend 300 days together… travelling and playing cricket. Hardik is still a good friend and we enjoy each other’s company. I hang out with Hardik a lot. It’s like one big family,” added the 27-year-old opener.
In an IPL match, this year between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab Rahul hammered Pandya for 25 runs in a single over. Many cricket fans took it to social media to term it as perfect revenge.
“People are allowed to have an opinion and write whatever they wish to. Anybody can sit behind a computer or phone and write what they want to. I don’t see how that’s going to change my life,” said Rahul on people’s comments.
In fact, the player does not even read all the comments unless the comments are passed by someone familiar to him. “The good thing about Twitter and Instagram is that only the people you follow, their comments appear on top, and I just read those. I don’t scroll down to read all the other stuff. ”
Rahul, who is currently ranked seventh in the T20I’s Men’s batting ranking has also been rumoured to be dating several Bollywood actresses, he denies it all as rumours and states that he does not read newspapers and isn’t aware of all these gossips.
Rahul shows his complete dedication towards cricket and likes to keep his personal life private and not make it a thing to talk about. He was included in the squad for West Indies tour but only played the final T20 match and was on the bench for the three-match ODI series. He has his name also for the Tests against Windies that starts from August 22.
