Not long ago Rajvardhan Hangargekar was enjoying the time of his life. Hangargekar came handy with both bat and ball in the recently-concluded U-19 World Cup and garnered eyeballs, courtesy of his all-round skills.
Hangargekar’s great outing the grand event took him to the centrestage and fetched him Rs. 1.5 crore in the mega auction as the reigning IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) eventually acquired his services.
However, the all-rounder may have a tough road ahead as he is reportedly involved in age-fudging. As per a report of Saamana newspaper, The Commissioner of Sports and Youth Department, Maharashtra, Omprakash Bakoria, has accused the cricketer of age-fudging. The IAS has sent a complaint regarding the same to the BCCI with evidence against the youngster.
Hangargekar, who was a student of Terna Public School, changed his birthdate from January 10, 2001, to November 10, 2002, while taking admission in class eighth. Omprakash Bakoria has sent the complaint letter to the BCCI along with the confirmation of Dharashiv Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rahul Gupta that Rajvardhan has manipulated his age.
Few days back, Rajvardhan Hangargekar fetched his first ever IPL contract as two of the most successful franchises Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians bid heavily for him. Ultimately, the all-rounder landed in CSK for Rs. 1.5 crore.
