The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka got underway today as Rohit Sharma, the new full-time Indian Test captain opted to bat first after winning the toss. The 35th captain of the Test team looked in good touch however couldn’t convert his start to a big score. Later on, the right-handed batsman was seen chilling in the dressing room and the camera caught him mimicking Faf du Plessis’ batting stance.

After Rohit got out in the 10th over of the inning, Rohit Sharma could be seen in action in the dressing room. Rohit scored 29 runs off just 28 deliveries and looked in great rhythm before holing out to the fine leg. The latest Indian captain was active in the dressing room as he mimicked the batting stance of the South African batsman and lightning fielder Faf du Plessis.

The Indian team has got a new assignment on their hands as they start the first Test today against Sri Lanka. The Rohit Sharma led team thrashed Sri Lanka in the recently concluded T20I series with a margin of 3-0. The Indian troops will look to dominate the Sri Lankan team in the Test series as well. The Indian openers started well and notched-up a partnership of 52 after which Rohit played a compulsive pull shot which went straight to Lakmal.
Rohit Sharma is now the full-time captain of the Indian team in all the formats and started his captaincy career on a high note with two series win against West Indies, followed by a T20I series win against Sri Lanka. It will be a test of Rohit’s captaincy in the longer format of the game and the management would want him to do well for the nation. Rohit’ captaincy will be closely observed by the fans as well considering the legacy Virat Kohli has left.
