A very funny incident took place in the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) between Kieron Pollard and the umpire, Chris Gaffaney in the 56th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 on Monday at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.
Just after the strategic timeout, after the 9th over, came in the West-Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard. He conceded a four on the very first ball of the over and three singles on the next three deliveries. All the while, as Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard approached the bowling crease, he was about to bowl the fifth delivery of the over to left-handed batsman Nitish Rana when the ball snuck out of his hand in the bowling rhythm and hit the umpire, Chris Gaffaney on his hand.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. They made one necessary change to their playing XI, with Ramandeep Singh substituting Suryakumar Yadav, who was injured and ruled out of the competition.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders once again made plenty of changes to the playing XI as Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, Pat Cummins, Sheldon Jackson and Ajinkya Rahane replaced Shivam Mavi, Anukul Roy, Aaron Finch, Baba Indrajith and Harshit Rana in the playing XI.

Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane initiated the innings for the Knight Riders, while all-rounder Daniel Sams led the attack for the Mumbai Indians, conceding only four runs in the first over.
In the 6th over Kumar Kartikeya got the first breakthrough for Mumbai Indians by dismissing opening batsman Venkatesh Iyer, who scored 43 runs off 24 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes, and at the end of the powerplay, KKR were at 64. KKR managed to put up a decent total of 165/9 in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah came back with his great form and took a fifer (5/10) in his spell of 4 overs. Unfortunately, Mumbai Indians didn’t win the match as KKR bowled them out for 113 in 17.3 overs
