Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are currently locking horns in the two-match Test series in Bangladesh. The first Test has turned out to be a run-fest as both the team’s piled-up plenty of runs. In Bangladesh’s first inning, Mushfiqur Rahim scored his 8th ton and was seen celebrating exuberantly after he reached the milestone. During the process, Rahim became the only Bangladesh batsman to complete 5000-runs in Test cricket.

Mushfiqur Rahim has been providing his services for the team for a long time and is one of the veterans in the Bangladesh squad. Mushfiqur put his heart on his sleeve after he attained the historical number and became the only player from Bangladesh to complete this achievement. The batsman went on to reveal how the fans in Bangladesh compare him to the all-time great Don Bradman.
“Only in Bangladesh, I have seen that people compare me to Bradman when I score a century, but then when I don’t score runs, I feel like digging a hole for myself. I am one of the senior players so we are not going to be around for long. But this is becoming a culture, so the younger players need the support. If I have to spend so much time tackling these things off the field, our on-field duties get affected,” said Mushfiqur Rahim on Wednesday.
Mushfiqur Rahim scored 105 runs and strengthened the position of his team. The opening duo of Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tamim Iqbal was involved in a 162-run partnership. Bangladesh went on to score 465 runs in reply to Sri Lanka’s 397 as they took a decent lead of 68 runs. Hasan Joy and Liton Das contributed ably with 58 and 88 runs respectively.

As for the match, it is heading towards a draw as the third session of the fifth day of the Test is already underway with Bangladesh yet to play their second inning. Sri Lanka is leading by 152 runs at the loss of 6 wickets and the match is surely going to end in a draw. The second Test of the series is going to commence on 23rd May and both the teams will look to win the match in order to win the series.
