On Thursday, Rishabh Pant walked out as India captain for the first time. The wicket-keeper got this big role after KL Rahul gets ruled out of the whole series due to a groin injury. The outing as skipper turned out to be a good one for the 24-year-old keeper-batsman as he aggregated 29 runs during 211-run India innings. However, the batter had to walk back without playing any ball if South African players hadn’t given him the second chance.
Rishabh Pant survived after colliding with Rabada and Stubbs
The incident happened during the 13th over when Shreyas Iyer played Kagiso Rabada’s delivery towards short mid-wicket. Rishabh Pant who had just arrived in the middle was interested to take a single. But Iyer pulled the brakes while Pant bumped into Kagiso Rabada who was running to gather the ball.
Tristan Stubbs was quick to collect the ball and all he had to do was safely hand over the ball to the fielder who was standing on the stumps. But he committed a howler by throwing it over the fielder’s head. And it between Pant made his ground. Thus, both sides were involved in a mix-up.
