The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to get a new president as reports suggest that the current BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly wouldn’t continue for another term.
Supreme Court had recently allowed the Indian cricket board to amend its constitution which led to the speculations that both Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah will continue for one more term.
However, according to a report in Dainik Jagran, the top BCCI officials recently met in New Delhi and decided that Sourav Ganguly won’t contest elections for the post of BCCI President again.
BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla and former BCCI president N Srinivasan too attended this meeting along with the current office bearers.
Contenders for the post of BCCI president
As per the reports, it’s clear that BCCI will get a new president and two names have emerged on the scene for the president post.
The names of former India all-rounder Roger Binny and current vice-president Rajeev Shukla have popped up for the post of president.
While one of these two will become the new president, and the other one could become the new IPL chairman.

The cricket fraternity believed that Ganguly can actually make way for Jay Shah to become the new BCCI boss but those rumors have now come to a halt.
The former captain might contest for the role of ICC chairman for which there’s a need for support from cricket boards around the world.
Considering the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India, the BCCI will be keen to place Ganguly as the chairman of the world governing body.
