India vs Bangladesh in ICC tournaments always produces Nail-biting thrillers and the game in Adelaide wasn’t less than that.
India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs in a rain-affected game which was full of drama and rollercoaster rides. At once, Bangladesh looked like cruising towards India’s total courtesy of Litton Das’s scintillating knock but fell short after the rain impacted the game.
Nurul Hasan alleges Virat Kohli of fake fielding
In the post-match conversation with reporters, Nurul Hasan said, “Certainly the field was wet and it had an impact and everyone saw that and eventually what I felt is that when we were talking there was a fake throw and it could have been a five-run penalty and that could have gone our way but unfortunately even that didn’t come.”
Bangladesh opener Litton Das was in some serious touch in the game against India as he played a breathtaking knock of 60 runs off just 27 balls. However, as the rain came after the seventh over of the chase, Bangladesh Team couldn’t maintain their composure right after Litton Das lost his wicket.
Just before the rain came, during the second delivery of the seventh over. Litton Das pushed an Axar Patel towards the offside and came back for a couple. Arshdeep Singh who was fielding at deep point threw the ball back towards wicketkeeper Karthik while Virat Kohli was placed at point.

The throw reached directly towards Dinesh Karthik, while Virat was seen making a gesture of collecting the ball and throwing when the ball was not even near him. Nurul accused Virat Kohli of fake fielding and ICC’s Law 41.5 which deals with unfair play, says that in case of “deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of batter” a five-run penalty can be imposed on the fielding side.
The on-field umpires didn’t rule in favor of the batting side for Virat’s gesture and were not awarded five penalty runs and eventually, the Bangladesh batters fell five runs short of the Indian total. This loss has hurt Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the semifinals while Team India with 6 points in 4 games is now the table toppers.
