On a pitch where all other Indian batters struggled to score freely, Yadav kept on playing his shots as usual in a 360° manner. In no time he smashed his second T20I ton in the same calendar year after he had scored his first T20I ton against England. The aggressive batter remained unbeaten and scored 111 runs off just 51 deliveries hitting 11 fours and 7 sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav came into bat after the Indian team had a sluggish start as Rishabh Pant just scored 6 runs while Ishan Kishan struck 36 runs off 31 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer too got a hit-wicket after looking good for a brief period of time. It was then Suryakumar Yadav came in with a breathtaking knock while taking a few risks here and there.
Yadav’s knock of 111 runs helped India in posting a mammoth total of 191 runs which was way beyond New Zealand’s reach as they fell short by 65 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started off well with the new ball while Deepak Hooda was the pick of the bowlers as he came up with figures of 4-10 as he took wickets of Daryl Mitchell, Sodhi, Southee, and Milne in quick succession.
