Never-seen before comedy was on display during a recent test match between Pakistan Under-19 and Bangladesh Under-19 sides held in Multan, Pakistan as Bangladesh U19s turned a straightforward run-out chance into a clown show, with their wicket-keeper the sole player interested in executing it.
The hilarious incident took place during Pakistan’s first innings on the first day (November 4) of the four-day test match between the cross-border neighbours.
Comedy of errors in Under-19 match leaves fans in splits
During the first day’s play, a Pakistani batsman punched the ball through cover region and set out for a quick single, but aborted it at half-way stage. The non-striker, however, kept running towards the batting end and both the batters were left at the same end.
Bangladesh Under19 wicket-keeper, Shiam Hossain Dipu, meanwhile, ran all the way from behind the batting end to the bowling end, awaiting a throw from the fielder at covers.
However, the fielder didn’t pick the ball on time, and when he did, he threw it to the batting end and the keeper had to re-run through the pitch to try and collect the throw. He hilariously ran his own 2 runs in the process while Pakistan U19s completed none.
No other player from the Bangladesh Under-19 team seemed interested in executing the straightforward run-out on offer, constructing a comedy of errors during the match.

The fans were left amused, and the frenzy at display was aptly summed by a Twitterati: “It appears like someone is operating a machine from the roof of the stadium”.

Batting first, Pakistan had put 224 on board during the first innings before Bangladesh U19 were skittled out for just 161. The second innings from both the sides, however, saw much more fight with the bat in hand and the test match was drawn. Three centuries were scored during the second half of the match.
