Recently, Virat Kohli becomes the most successful Indian captain in test cricket. Virat overtook Dhoni’s record of 27 wins in 60 matches. Now, the 30-year old skipper has 28 wins in 48 matches. Not, only in the test but in limited-overs cricket he has done exceptionally well as a captain. Virat Kohli’s win percentage in ODI is 75 which is highest ever for any Indian skipper. He has captained in 80 ODIs so far and India has won 58 out of them.
However, Virat Kohli has always struggled as captain in IPL. He is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2013 but the team has yet to win an IPL title. IPL 2016, was the best season of RCB when they played the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The poor captaincy record of Virat has triggered critics. Gautam Gambhir is also the one who doesn’t consider Virat as a great captain.

Gambhir Takes A Dig On Virat Kohli
Recently, Gambhir once again takes a dig on the current skipper. He stated that Kohli is effective in international cricket because he has MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in the Indian side. The former opener said, “Still a long way to go for him. Kohli was very good in the last World Cup but he has a long way to go. He captains so well in international cricket because he has got Rohit Sharma, he had MS Dhoni for a long time. Captaincy credentials are noticed when you are leading a franchise when you do not have other players supporting you,”
Gambhir feels Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are a higher level captain than Virat Kohli because of their success in Indian Premier League. Gambhir further added, “I have been honest whenever I have spoken about this. See what Rohit Sharma has achieved for Mumbai Indians, see what Dhoni has achieved for Chennai Super Kings. If you compare that with RCB, the results are there for everyone to see”
