The upcoming IPL auction is slated for December 23 in Kochi and ahead of the event, the entire list of registered players (277 overseas, 714 Indian) has been finalised. In total, 21 of them will head into the IPL 2023 auction with a Base Price of INR 2 Crore.
Some of them have set the Indian Premier League on fire before and will be on the radar of most teams, while others have been audacious to start at the highest possible bid.
List of players with 2 CRORE Base Price for IPL 2023 auction
The 21 players listed in the 2 Crore bracket include 4 Australians, 9 Englanders, 3 Kiwis, 2 West Indians and Proteas each and one Sri Lankan.
Players from England (9): Sam Curran, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Tom Banton, Adil Rashid, Ben Stokes, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills and Philip Salt.
Sam Curran will be the biggest attraction from England at the auctions and has enlisted himself at 2 CR alongside Test Skipper Ben Stokes and 7 other English cricketers.
Curran (41 IPL wickets and 150 SR) and Stokes (IPL 2017 MVP) are expected to amongst the most expensive players at the IPL 2023 auction. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid might also be in demand following his T20 WC exploits and the same can be said about destructive opener Tom Banton.
Players from Australia (4): Cameron Green, Travis Head, Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile
Three of the 4 Kangaroos entering 2023 IPL Players auction at a base price of 2 Crore have been a part of the league before.
The sole man who hasn’t played a single IPL game is Cameron Green. However, the towering all-rounder looks set to be paid more than his colleagues thanks to his his brutal batting during the recent IND vs AUS T20 series.
Players from New Zealand (3) : James Neesham, Kane Williamson and Adam Milne.
Kane Williamson was released from the SRH camp after a poor IPL 2022 both as a batsman and captain. The NZ skipper will be one of the limited leadership candidates entering the auction. James Neesham and Milne have been a part of the league in recent times and are set to enter the IPL 2023 auction at a Base Price of 2 Crore INR.
Players from West Indies (2): Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder
NP was brilliant last season but due to a poor T20 WC 2022, he has been released. Jason Holder too, did not do poorly for LSG and should be a hot commodity come December 23.
Players from South Africa (2): Rilee Russouw and Rassie van der Dussen.
Both Russouw and Rassie are top-order bats relatively unexposed to IPL. However, they will both test their luck at the IPL 2023 auction at a base price 2 Crore INR.
Player(s) from Sri Lanka (1): Angelo Matthews
The sole Lankan Lion entering the upcoming IPL auction as a part of the highest price bracket is Angelo Matthews. The 35-year-old last featured in the Indian Premier League in the 2017 edition.
