Though Mahendra Singh Dhoni is well past his prime, it is still difficult to keep the enigmatic former Team India skipper out of discussions. The case wasn’t all that different when SRK hosted a question and answers session on his Twitter handle the day before, and a fan asked him a question about MS Dhoni.
Shahrukh Khan was inquired about how he feels when the two-time ICC WC champion comes to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders, a franchise Shahrukh co-owns. The actor, in turn, offered a three-word reply that sent the Twitteratis into a fit.
SRK’s reply read, “Haha nervous”.

The IPL history between MS Dhoni and SRK
Notably, Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings have often crossed paths with Shahrukh’s KKR at important junctures, often coming out on top. Most recently, the Dhoni-led outfit beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament finale of IPL 2021 to deny them their third crown.
MS Dhoni the batsman has also been a challenge for SRK and his side across seasons. The five-time Indian Premier League champion has amassed 539 runs against KKR off 11 dismissals, averaging 49 runs. Despite suffering from poor form in the last season, Dhoni smacked an unbeaten 38-ball-50 against King Khan’s Kolkata.
Owing to the former Team India skipper being a thorn in Kolkata Knight Riders’ flesh on numerous occasions, Shah Rukh in 2017 had joked that he would even sell his Pajamas (trousers) to bring Dhoni to Kolkata.
The wish from SRK, as events turned out, didn’t turn into reality as Rising Pune Supergiants didn’t release MS Dhoni into 2017’s auction pool before the CSK retained him ahead of the 2018 auctions.
Shahrukh Khan’s silver screen comeback is slated for January 25, 2023, with Pathan expected to hit the theatres provided it overcomes the controversies it has landed in. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on the other hand, will lead CSK in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
