ICC ODI World Cup is set to be hosted by India after 12 years and the Indian team management has set their eyes on the marquee tournament as they look to form a suitable combination before the tournament begins.
India’s former batter Ajay Jadeja picked India’s bowling line-up in which he didn’t include Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Siraj.
Ajay Jadeja picks young Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh in his Indian bowling combination for ODI World Cup
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has picked his bowling combination for the ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to be organized in October-November this year. The combination selected by him was quite interesting as he picked Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Siraj.
“Jasprit Bumrah, you got to pick, for sure. I am going with just for the current form, I would go with Shami, there’s no way I can leave him out. I would go with Arshdeep Singh. He may not have had a good last couple of games, but that’s the future. He’s the only left arm you’re looking at, brilliant with the new ball. It’s unfortunate that he’s so good with the old ball that the Indian team started using him with the old ball and not with the new one,” Ajay Jadeja said on Cricbuzz.
“I would play Ashwin in India in that World Cup because spin will be (important). Chahal, you don’t need to play now, you need to play him in the World Cup. These are ready whether you want them or not. So, I would go with him and Umran Malik. Then I’ll pick Chahal there,” the former batter further added.
It’s worth noting that Mohammed Siraj was India’s best bowler in the ODIs in 2022 as he picked 23 wickets in just 14 matches while there is uncertainty over Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fitness. Mohammed Siraj is a serious contender for a spot in the squad as most of the senior pacers have regularly suffered from fitness issues.
Team India will look to set a formidable combination ahead of the marquee tournament as the BCCI recently declared that they have shortlisted 20 players and they will be rotated in the games ahead of the World Cup.
