Rajasthan Royals took on Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 game on April 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In the game against Rajasthan Royals, LSG skipper KL Rahul got injured as his teammates’ throw went on to hit his right elbow after which he looked in immense pain.
Rajasthan Royals’ opening duo of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them the kind of start they were looking for and didn’t allow bowlers to take wickets in the first 10 overs. Lucknow Super Giants were desperately looking for wickets as the RR franchise was placed at a score of 73-0 after the end of 10 overs.
A casual throw from a teammate injures KL Rahul in RR vs LSG game
The LSG skipper was keenly searching for wickets as he called veteran leg spinner Amit Mishra to bowl the 11th over of Rajasthan Royals’ innings. On the second ball of the 11th over, Amit Mishra bowled a full delivery just outside the off stump to Jos Buttler.
Buttler tried playing a reverse sweep but was deceived as it was a googly that went on to hit his pads and then deflected towards the short fine leg fielder. Yashasvi Jaiswal quickly ran for a single while the fielder threw the ball to attempt a run-out at the non-striker’s end.
In the meantime, Buttler had completed the run and the ball was stopped by the fielder at long off. He threw it back quite casually and inadvertently hit KL Rahul. The LSG skipper wasn’t aware of the throw coming in his direction and was walking toward his fielding position as the ball hit his right elbow.
