The fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League will commence on the 31st of July. The tournament will feature 5 teams playing for the prestigious trophy. One of them will lift on 22 August. LPL 2023: Babar Azam set to play debut Lanka Premier League season this year.

The Sri Lankan T20 league will be played in 2 cities of the country. The capital city Colombo and Kandy will host the tournament alternately. The final game will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium of Colombo.
All 5 teams have 1 overseas Icon player, an icon domestic player followed by Platinum Overseas, and a local player.
Babar Azam set to play his debut Lanka Premier League season
The season will also be special be interesting because the Pakistani players will feature for the first time in the league. One of the world’s best Babar Azam will be leading the lines for the Colombo Strikers.
While David Miller is the icon player for the defending champions Jaffna Kings.
The Sri Lankan player will play in the league just after completing the ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.
Dambulla Aura sign Matthew Wade as their Icon player
The Dambulla Aura have shown faith in the Australian wicketkeeper-batsman. His experience will make a huge impact on the team’s environment as there are a lot of youngsters on that team.
They have another talented wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Medis in their lineup as well. To solidify their bowling they have bought the South African right-arm quick Lungi Ngidi as their overseas platinum player.

Galle Gladiators roped in Shakib Al Hassan as their icon overseas player
The Bangladeshi veteran allrounder Shakib is Galle’s top pick for the overseas icon pick. The Sri Lankan national team captain Dasun Shanaka will lead the Galle Gladiators. South African leg spinner Tabraiz Shamsi is their Overseas platinum pick whereas flamboyant striker Bhanuka Rajapaksa is their local platinum player.
Kandy Falcons pick Mujeeb Ur Rahman as the icon overseas player
The Afghani leg spinner Mujeeb is icon overseas player of Kandy. On the other hand spin maestro Wanindu Hasranga is their local icon player.
Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman and former Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews are also on the team.

The premier batter Babar Azam is the icon overseas and his fellow teammate Naseem is platinum overseas.
