England defeated Ireland in the one-off test at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London by 10 wickets. On the third day of the ENG vs IRE test, Joe Root made a schoolboy error as he forgot to field the ball after which young Harry Brook had to put a full-length dive to save the boundary.
Ireland’s batting lineup produced a heroic performance in their second innings as they put on a total of 362-9. They made the English bowlers and fielders toil hard and played some exciting shots right through their innings.

Ireland batters Andy McBrine and Mark Adair combined a counter-attacking 153-run partnership for the 7th wicket to recover their side from 162-6. Both batters played some brilliant shots during their partnership to make things tougher for English bowlers.
The 5th delivery of the 67th over was pitched short by England pacer Matthew Pott as Mark Adair pulled it towards the deep square leg boundary. While it could have been easily stopped by Joe Root who was placed at deep fine leg, the former English skipper made a schoolboy error and didn’t attempt to stop it.
Young Harry Brook, who was fielding at the deep mid-wicket region, had to run to his right quickly and put a full-length dive to save a certain boundary. Right after saving the boundary, Harry Brook showed his disappointment as Joe Root could have easily stopped the ball but he made a pretty casual effort.
As Brook saved the boundary with his brilliant dive, Joe Root threw the ball back to keeper Jonny Bairstow as Mark Adair got a couple of runs. The video of Root’s casual on-field awareness went viral on social media platforms.

Mark Adair was eventually dismissed after playing a scintillating knock of 88 runs off just 76 deliveries including 12 boundaries and 2 maximums. Andy McBrine remained unbeaten after scoring 86 runs including 14 boundaries as the two Irish batters allowed their team to post a total of 362-9.

The English side just needed 11 runs to win the one-off ENG vs IRE test as they had scored 524-4 in their first innings getting a lead of 354 runs. England opening batter Zak Crawley once again went on with the Bazball approach as he smashed 3 boundaries off the first 4 deliveries as England won the game by 10 wickets.
