Virat Kohli is currently one of the biggest icons for Team India’s young players as they look up to the standards he has set in terms of consistency and fitness. Ahead of the WTC final, Virat stated that he’s keen to help Shubman Gill as the young batter is willing to learn.
Team India will face Australia in the all-important 2023 WTC final beginning from June 7 at the Kennington Oval in London. Virat and Shubman will play an important role in Team India’s batting lineup considering the tough English conditions.
Virat Kohli keen to help Shubman Gill
“Shubman is a lovely kid and he is playing amazingly well and I wish he continues the same in this Test match. He speaks to me a lot about the game, is very keen to learn and has an amazing skill set at his age,” Virat said ahead of the WTC final against Australia.
“I am keen to help him grow and really understand his potential and come into his own so that he can play for a long time and perform consistently and Indian cricket gets benefited… we do have a relationship and we do have that understanding based upon respect,” the senior Indian batter further added.
He wants to learn how to do this for a long time: Virat Kohli on Shubman Gill
“As long as a guy is keen to learn, like Shubman is, he is going to be fine. He wants to learn how to do this for a long time at the highest level and perform consistently,” Kohli discussed Gill’s willingness to learn.
It’s worth noting that while Virat is termed the ‘King’ of Indian cricket, cricket fans these days have associated the term ‘Prince’ with Shubman Gill. The young opening batter is expected to perform with the same consistency as Kohli has done right since he started playing for the Men in Blue.
Gill will look to continue his exceptional form in the much-awaited WTC final. In the recently concluded IPL 2023, the young batter amassed 890 runs for the Gujarat Titans including 2 hundreds one of which came against Virat Kohli-starrer RCB side.
