Gautam Gambhir has opted to stay out of the IPL 2024 following the big Lok Sabha Election upcoming. The LSG Mentor joined Bharatiya Janta Party back in 2019 from the East Delhi constituency. He managed to win the election back in 2019 and to repeat the same he has decided to devote more time to politics.
Gambhir’s tenure as a head coach of the Lucknow Supergiants started in 2022 and since then the player has been with the team for two seasons. He emerged as the leader of the franchise but unfortunately, his team couldn’t able to lift the trophy despite finishing in the top 4 twice.
However, Gambhir’s presence made a huge impact on the team’s performance as they played fearless cricket under his mentorship. The LSG will miss his service in next year’s IPL which might affect negatively the team’s performance.
Gautam Gamnhir to miss IPL 2024
The former Indian left-handed batter has cleared his intention of not participating in the upcoming IPL due to the Lok Sabha Electionapproachmen at the same time. The 41-year-old won his debut election back in 2019 when he defeated Arvindra Singh Lovely from NIC.
He won the Election by a mammoth margin of 3,91,222 making a huge statement in the political world. Since then the player has become a member of Parliament.
During the past few days, a rumor was circulated that Gambhir has left the LSG franchise in disappointment as they appointed Justin Langer as the new head coach. However, the Southpaw cleared the air around fake news and told everyone that he will be taking a break from the IPL.
A representative from LSG said “Yes, Gautam Gambhir is likely to just take a break for the next IPL to political commitments. He is not moving to a different team or leaving franchises. There will be a lot of political work involved in the build-up to the Lok Sabha elections, so he wants to focus all his energies towards that,”

IPL 2024 likely to be played outside India following the election
In India, after every 5 years, a Lok Sabha Election takes place which helps the people choose the leader of the country for the next five years. The Election does impact the Indian Premier League as we have seen in the past. In 2009 Election, the IPL was played in South Africa while in 2019 the first half of the tournament was played in UAE.
