The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will begin in a month’s time and cricket fans are eagerly waiting to know which 15 players will get selected in the Indian squad. Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody has picked his preferred Team India World Cup 2023 squad and hasn’t included Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson.
Both Yadav and Samson were a part of the Indian squad for the T20I and ODI series against West Indies. However, the two middle-order batters couldn’t perform as per their true potential after which question marks were raised on their place in the team.
Moody named his 15-member Team India World Cup 2023 squad in a video on Star Sports which didn’t include the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson. He picked Ishan Kishan as the second keeper-batter in the side ahead of Samson.
Yadav has played 26 games for the Men in Blue and has scored just 511 runs at a mediocre average of 24.33. While Sanju Samson has an exceptional average of 55.71 in the 12 ODIs he has played for the Indian team, his form against West Indies wasn’t impressive.

Tom Moody also included both Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the 15-member squad. It’s worth noting that Chahal was excluded from Team India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad as Ajit Agarkar, Chairman of the selection committee, stated that they could only pick one wrist spinner in the team.
The former Australian cricketer also picked Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel as all-rounders along with Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. He picked the seam-bowling trio of Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj as well.
“I believe India has got probably one of the hardest tasks in finalizing their 15 of all the playing nations in the World Cup,” Moody commented while naming his preferred 15-member squad.
The Men in Blue are currently in Sri Lanka contesting in the Asia Cup 2023 whose final will be played on September 17. The Indian team will then take on Australia in a three-match ODI series ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
