According to a few social media posts which got viral on September 18, it was discovered that Rohit had forgotten his passport. The support staff had to retrieve it for him, causing a delay in team members’ departure for the airport.
In the viral video, Rohit was seen standing at the entrance of the team bus, with all other players already boarded, looking tense as he was waiting for his passport to be retrieved from the hotel.

It’s worth noting that, Virat Kohli had revealed that Rohit Sharma has a habit of forgetting and misplacing things during his conversation with Gaurav Kapur on his YouTube show ‘Breakfast with champions’. This incident drew attention to the statement made by Virat in 2017.
“The number of things Rohit Sharma forgets, I have never seen anyone else being this forgetful. iPad, wallet, phone, not the small things, but things for daily use. He (Rohit Sharma) has forgotten his passport two or three times. It was very hard to retrieve it,” Virat Kohli had said.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue lifted the Asia Cup 2023 Trophy by defeating Sri Lanka in a one-sided affair on a pace-friendly Colombo wicket. Mohammad Siraj was the star performer with the ball as he took 6 wickets with the new ball.
Siraj eventually finished with the figures of 6-21 in his seven-over spell. Hardik Pandya too scalped 3 wickets as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs making things pretty easy for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
The Indian opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill chased down the target in just 6.1 overs leading India to a historic Asia Cup victory after 5 years. Rohit Sharma had earlier led a second-string Indian side in the UAE to clinch the Asia Cup title in 2018.
The Men in Blue will now take on Australia in a 3-match ODI series beginning on September 22. The series against Aussies will be their last campaign ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which will begin on October 5.
