A video clip of Kapil Dev being abducted by two men has been doing the rounds on social media today. The short clip was shared by former Gautam Gambhir on his X (previously known as Twitter) handle and the video caught the attention of the cricket fraternity. Even Gambhir isn’t certain whether it is Kapil Dev who was kidnapped as the person in the video looks exactly similar to Kapil Dev.
In fact, he asked his followers whether they received the video clip and also hoped that it was not actually Kapil Dev. He believes that Kapil Dev is safe. Meanwhile, several netizens came up with their views and opinions about the widely-circulating clip. Some users are of the notion that Kapil Dev might be involved in an advertisement before the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.

On the other hand, several other fans launched a scathing attack on the concept of the advertisement. They feel that the advertisers have stooped so low in order to gain traction and the attention of the cricket fraternity. “Disgusting way for viewership, at least respect our legends,” one of the social media users wrote.
Some users reckon that it is just a prank video whereas few users feel it is not Kapil Dev in the first place. The exact details of the video are not known yet. Another user wrote, “Doing ads is cool but what a disgusting script for a respectful person like Kapil Dev.” Gambhir took to his handle and wrote, “Anyone else received this clip, too?
