Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant made a return to cricket after spending almost 15 months on the sidelines owing to the career-threatening accident in late December 2022. The 26-year-old went through rehabilitation phase before making a stellar comeback to the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. The cricket fraternity was curiously waiting for him to step on the field and go about his work.
While it is a huge relief to see Pant back in action, he is yet to rediscover his mojo back as he failed to bring the best out of himself in the first two games of this season’s IPL. The DC skipper scored 18 off 13 balls including 2 fours against Punjab Kings in Chandigarh. While he got off to a good start against Rajasthan Royals in the run-chase, he failed to capitalize on the momentum before getting dismissed for 28 off 26 balls.
Rishabh Pant hammers his bat in anger following his dismissal
The DC captain smashed two fours and a six and maintained a strike rate of 107.69. When he was at the crease, there was some glimmer of hope left in DC’s dugout but his dismissal in the crucial time saw the team mess up the plot. During the first ball of the 14th over, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a wide length ball outside the off-stump, tempting Pant to play a cut shot but unfortunately, his decision backfired him.

Rishabh Pant’s bat got an edge as Sanju Samson took a smart catch in his safe pair of gloves. Pant was so frustrated with his mode of dismissal and while making his way back to the dressing room, he angrily hit the fluffy cushions with his willow and the video clip of the same has gone viral on social media. Delhi Capitals have played two games and lost both of them in a disappointing manner.

Currently, they are eighth on the points table. Meanwhile, the DC captain will be hoping to make an impact with the bat in the upcoming game against Chennai Super Kings on March 31, Sunday at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
