Shubman Gill, one of the four reserve players for India’s T20 World Cup squad, is set to return to India from the USA. Following his release from the list, rumors surfaced suggesting disciplinary issues led to this decision by the Indian management. However, Shubman Gill himself has dispelled these rumors through an epic Instagram story.
Reports claimed that during T20 World Cup, Shubman Gill’s focus was on his business ventures rather than his national responsibilities, leading to dissatisfaction within the management, and resulting in his release. Another rumor that surfaced after Gill’s release was that he unfollowed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Instagram.
Now, the 24-year-old batter has debunked these fake reports and rumors with an epic Instagram post. He shared a picture of himself with Rohit Sharma holding his daughter Samaira, captioning it: “Sammy and I learning the art of discipline from @rohitsharma45.
Shubman Gill’s post is a clear rebuttal to the fake reports regarding his disciplinary issues and alleged rift with Rohit Sharma. In reality, Gill’s release as a reserve player after the USA leg was part of a pre-planned arrangement. Avesh Khan is also scheduled to return to India along with Gill. Team India’s batting coach, Vikram Rathour, clarifies the situation.
“This was a plan from the beginning. When we come to the US, four players will come together. After that two will be released and two will travel with us to West Indies. So, this plan was made from the beginning since the team was selected. This was planned so we are just following that.” said Vikram Rathour.
Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, the other two reserve players who have not been released, will travel with the Indian squad to the Caribbean. India will commence the Super 8 stage with a match against Afghanistan in Barbados.
