This particular incident occurred in the 14th over, right after Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Shakib Al Hasan. Mahmudullah had just arrived at the crease, and Kuldeep tricked him with a well-bowled googly. The ball just missed the top of the off stump.

However, Kuldeep immediately asked Rohit for a field change, possibly wanting to place a fielder at square as there was no protection there. Rohit Sharma, however, was unimpressed with Kuldeep’s request. Rohit indicated to Kuldeep to let Mahmudullah play square and not worry if a boundary comes. Since the batter was not yet set, playing with the cross bat could create opportunities.

India continued with the same fielding setup, and Kuldeep conceded just 2 runs in the remaining over. The chinaman was brilliant with the ball, scalping 3 wickets in his 4-over spell and conceding just 19 runs. Kuldeep didn’t get a chance in the USA leg, but on the spin-friendly Caribbean pitches, he played 2 matches and took 5 wickets.
