India made history in Dubai by winning the Asia Cup 2025 after beating Pakistan by five wickets in the final. The victory was special because it came against their biggest rivals. More importantly, India went unbeaten throughout the tournament and they couldn’t be any happier.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a massive for the players and support staff following India’s grand win over Pakistan in the showdown.
BCCI announces cash prize for Team India
The announcement showed how much the BCCI valued Indian team’s dominant performance. India won all seven matches in the competition. They won three games against Pakistan in the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav and Co. displayed balance, consistency, and depth in every department. This win also confirmed India’s supremacy in Asian cricket.
The final at the Dubai International Stadium lived up to its billing. Pakistan posted 146 runs on the board. In reply, India had early hiccups as they lost three wickets but managed to chase it down with calmness and control from middle-order batters. Young players stood up under pressure. Tilak Varma played a match-winning knock of 69 from 53 balls and anchored the chase.
His composure at the crease gave India stability. Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube provided important support. They all made sure that India stayed on course. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers. He accounted for four dismissals in his quota of 4 overs.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the prize announcement after the final. “₹21 crore will be shared among players and support staff. The exact distribution details are yet to be announced,” he said. He called the win “extraordinary” and described the prize as a recognition of hard work and a gift to Indian fans. Across the country, supporters celebrated the win, and the announcement made them feel even more connected to the team’s success.
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla also praised the performance. He highlighted that India beat Pakistan three times in the same tournament, calling it a statement of dominance. He said the win proved the strength of India’s cricketing system and its ability to produce match-winners.
The night, however, belonged to Tilak Varma. His innings under pressure stood out and earned him the man of the match award. After the game, Tilak spoke about how he handled the situation. “It was pressure. They were bowling well. They were mixing the pace up. I was breathing and trying to stay calm. Fantastic knock from Samson. The way Dube batted under pressure was helpful and important for the country,” he said.
He also explained how preparation shaped his game. “We have prepared for every position. You should be flexible. I was prepared to bat at any position. I was backing my game. When the wickets are on the slower side, I have talked to Gauti sir and have worked hard. One of the most special knocks of my life. This is for all the Indians,” he added.
Abhishek Sharma who scored 314 runs in 7 games finished as the leading run-scorer of the Asia Cup 2025 tournament. He was adjudged the Player of the Tournament. At the post-match presentation, he said, “I mean, of course, getting into this team after winning the World Cup, it wasn’t easy for any opener. But if you see, we had a plan that we want to play a game, you know, that we have to show intent from the first ball. So that was my plan, I worked really hard on that. And if you’re playing like this, you need special support from your coach and captain. I think that was the one thing I was getting from them throughout the tournament, before this as well. So obviously, my plan was pretty much clear that, you know, if I do well, if I get that impact, and it’s for my team, my team should win. Of course, I mean, if you want to play something like this, sometimes you will fail, but you have to keep the process going. And, you know, and that’s what I was getting from my team as well.”
When asked about adapting to different pitches in the tournament, he said, “I mean, if you see that I had a plan, if I get spinners or pacers in the powerplay, I’m going to utilize that powerplay. Because if you see any bowler, even a fast bowler, any of the premium fast bowlers as well, I want to go from the first ball, no matter who’s the bowler. And obviously that’s going to make me give that impact to the team. And that’s what I want to do.”
