India fans relished the true taste of an entertaining package on March 8, Sunday, as Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, comprehensively defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to clinch the T20 World Cup title.
Fans will talk about India’s big total, smart bowling, and the confidence the team showed under pressure. But sometimes the most memorable moments in sport do not come from a bat or a ball.
They come from something much simpler. This time, two quiet family scenes involving Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel managed to steal the spotlight during India’s celebrations.
India’s T20 World Cup celebrations turn emotional as Bumrah and Axar share family moments
Before the final even started, Jasprit Bumrah created a moment that many fans instantly noticed. As the Indian team walked out for the national anthem, Bumrah did not come alone. He held the hand of his young son Angad and brought him onto the field.
Bumrah stood in the lineup while the anthem played and his son stood calmly beside him. The stadium remained silent, and the cameras quickly captured the scene. For a few seconds, one of the most feared fast bowlers in world cricket simply looked like a proud father sharing a special moment with his child.

Fans usually see Bumrah in a completely different role. They see the fast bowler who delivers yorkers at the death. They see the calm expression and the intense focus.
Bumrah bowled with discipline and control and once again proved why he remains one of India’s most reliable bowlers in big matches. His 4/15 (4 overs) spell helped India maintain pressure on New Zealand and pushed the match firmly in India’s favour.
But the story did not end there. Bumrah again shared the moment with his son where he picked Angad up and carried him around the ground while teammates celebrated around them.
Not far from Bumrah, Axar Patel created another wholesome moment. Axar had quietly done his job during the match. He contributed with the ball by accounting for 3 dismissals in 3 overs and helped India maintain control in the middle overs.
After the final, Axar walked onto the field with his wife Meha and their young son Haksh. Instead of focusing on the cameras or interviews, he simply spent time with his child on the outfield.
The young boy walked around the ground while Axar watched him with a smile. At one point, Axar showed him the medal he had received after the victory. The small interaction lasted only a few moments, but fans loved it.
Modern cricket moves very fast. Players deal with constant pressure, social media criticism, and huge expectations from fans. In that environment, it becomes easy to forget that these players are also fathers, husbands, and family members.
India’s T20 World Cup triumph will obviously be remembered for the cricket. The team dominated the final and proved once again why it remains one of the strongest sides in the format.
Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Match for his incredible bowling spell. “Feels extremely special because I’ve played one final at my home venue and you know, couldn’t win that one, but this one feels really special. I was really motivated. I was really clear. I knew what I wanted to do. The wicket was a flat one, so I have played all my cricket here, so I used all my experience. Today was a wonderful day where all the execution went as per plan. So, yeah, really happy, really grateful. God is really kind,” Bumrah said after India’s T20 World Cup triumph.
“Everybody is very clear. Whenever we’ve discussed, they always come up with their options. And whenever there’s some communication that is to be needed, we always did that. We kept calm. We were never panicking, even if sometimes in the tournament, the games got close like the last one, we never panicked. We always felt that we will keep our head above the water and try to hold our nerve. Teams that do that win the tournament and we are very happy that we did it,” he added.
