The IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru witnessed a heated moment between Virat Kohli and Travis Head. The match already had high intensity, but what happened during and after the game quickly went viral and became one of the most discussed incidents of the season.

SRH came into the game with full confidence and played fearless cricket. Their batters attacked from the beginning and never allowed RCB’s bowlers to settle.

RCB struggled to control the game. The target was big, and the pressure kept increasing with every over. The chase never really went in their favour. The team looked under stress throughout.

Virat Kohli also found it difficult to make an impact in this match. He got out for a low score, which added to RCB’s frustration on the night.

On-field tension between Virat Kohli and Travis Head

During the match, cameras caught several moments where Kohli and Travis Head were seen exchanging words.

Both players looked fully involved in the contest. Neither wanted to back down, and the energy on the field became very intense.

This is not unusual in modern T20 cricket. Big games often bring out strong emotions, especially when the match is slipping away from one team and going strongly in favour of the other.

Kohli, known for his passion and fire, responded with equal intensity in the field. The result was a very charged atmosphere during the game. The biggest moment came after the match ended.

Virat Kohli walks past Travis Head

Players from both teams lined up for the traditional post-match handshake. Travis Head walked towards Kohli, expecting a normal exchange like always. But Kohli walked past him without shaking hands.

It happened very quickly, but it was enough for cameras and fans to catch it clearly. The clip spread across social media channels.

After the video went viral, fans had mixed reactions. Some fans said Kohli’s reaction came from frustration. RCB had just lost the match, and Kohli himself had a poor outing with the bat. Emotions can take over in high-pressure moments like this. They said it was a natural reaction from a player who hates losing.

Others felt differently. They said no matter how tense the match is, players should always respect the handshake tradition. According to them, ignoring a handshake does not look good in professional cricket.

This difference in opinion quickly turned into a big debate online. One thing that is not new is Kohli’s emotional style of cricket. Virat Kohli has always played with high intensity. He shows his emotions openly on the field, whether he is happy after a wicket or frustrated after a loss and fans have seen this many times over the years.

Talking about the game, SRH posted a humongous total of 255/4 in their quota of 20 overs. Ishan Kishan top-scored with 79 off 46 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes. Abhishek Sharma scored a quick-fire 56 off 22 balls laced with 4 fours and 5 sixes whereas Heinrich Klaasen scored 51 off 24 (2 fours, 5 sixes).

In reply, RCB did start the game pretty well in the form of Venkatesh Iyer. The left-hander pitched in with 44 off 19 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes) before he was dismissed by Eshan Malinga, which in turn slowed things down for RCB a little bit.

This was more than enough for SRH to cash in on the chances. They restricted RCB to 200/4 in 20 overs. Skipper Rajat Patidar top-scored with 56 off 39 (6 fours, 1 six). SRH won the game by 55 runs.

As things stand, RCB, GT, and SRH qualified for the playoffs. The aforementioned teams gained 18 points and are placed first, second and third on the points table.
