Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to remain part of Rajasthan Royals’ plans for IPL 2027 despite recent speculation about a possible trade. A report by Revsportz has suggested that the franchise still considers the Indian opener an important part of its future plans.
Jaiswal has recently been linked with a possible move to the Mumbai Indians. The reported trade could also involve Hardik Pandya, which has made the speculation even more interesting. However, Rajasthan Royals do not appear to be considering Jaiswal’s departure at this stage.
According to the report, the franchise has not received any indication from Jaiswal that he wants to leave. A senior Royals official also made it clear that the team continues to view the left-hander as part of its plans for the upcoming season.
“He (Jaiswal) hasn’t told us anything (about leaving the franchise),” a top Royals functionary told RevSportz. “We are planning things for the next season with him firmly on our roster. We have heard some rumours, but from our side, Jaiswal is very much our player.”
That statement should put some clarity around the growing trade talk. While discussions and rumours are common before an IPL season, there is currently no indication from Rajasthan Royals that they want to move on from Jaiswal.
Jaiswal remains important for Rajasthan Royals
Jaiswal has developed into one of India’s most exciting young batters. His aggressive approach at the top of the order gives Rajasthan an attacking option from the beginning of an innings.
For the Royals, keeping him could provide stability at the top of the batting order. The franchise will also want its key players to build towards the 2027 season rather than constantly deal with uncertainty around potential moves.
The trade window can still produce surprises, of course. But based on the current statement from the Rajasthan camp, Jaiswal remains firmly in their plans.
For now, the Mumbai Indians connection appears to be speculation rather than a confirmed move.

Jaiswal Involved in Heated Colombo Incident
Away from the IPL trade rumours, Jaiswal also found himself in the headlines following an incident during India’s second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The Indian batter and Sri Lanka fast bowler Asitha Fernando were fined 25 per cent of their match fees after an on-field confrontation. Both players also received one demerit point.
The incident took place after Fernando dismissed Jaiswal in the 17th over of India’s first innings. Jaiswal walked towards the bowler after his dismissal, and the two players exchanged words.
The situation then escalated. Fernando moved his head towards Jaiswal, who leaned in as well. Their heads subsequently made contact.
The incident attracted attention because of the physical nature of the confrontation. However, both players accepted the sanctions and avoided a formal hearing.
“Both players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings,” ICC said in a statement.
The ICC also explained the specific offence involved.
“Both players were found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).
The governing body also confirmed that the players had no previous offences during the relevant period.
“In addition to this, one demerit point each has been added to the disciplinary records of Fernando and Jaiswal, both of whom did not have any previous offences in the preceding 24-month period,” the statement added.
The incident has now been dealt with, while the IPL situation remains the bigger talking point for Jaiswal’s future. At present, Rajasthan Royals appear determined to keep their young star as they prepare for IPL 2027.
