Rohit Sharma Ruled Out Of New Zealand Tour; These Two Replaced Him In ODI & Test Squad: On Sunday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli chose to give rest to himself and play Sanju Samson ahead him. In the absence of Virat, Rohit Sharma played skipper’s role in the match. Meanwhile, team India whitewashed the New Zealand team, after defeating the hosts in the fifth and final match of the T20 series at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. However, now ahead of ODI and Test series Indian star batsman Rohit has been ruled out of both the series.
Actually, during the final t20 match of New Zealand tour, Ro-hit-man Sharma suffered a calf injury and walked off the field while he was batting on 60 and could not return again. In the absence of him, KL Rahul led the side and guided India to 7 runs win. Before the start of the New Zealand innings, the BCCI stated that “Rohit Sharma is being assessed at the moment” while after the game, KL Rahul said that “he should be fine in a couple of days”.
However, he is unlikely to recover in time and upon looking this BCCI has made the decision to drop him out from both the squads. This may be a serious blow for the team as star opener Shikhar Dhawan has already been not the part of the Indian squad because of the injury.
These Two Players Replaced Rohit In The ODI and Test Squad
In ODIs: In ODIs, Mayank Agarwal will going to replace him, who is already giving services in the Test squad. Now in the ODIs, Mayank will take charge of the Indian opening department along with KL Rahul. However, this news has still not officially declared by the BCCI.
In Tests: In the Test side, Prithvi Shaw now looks set to earn a recall while one among Rahul and Shubman Gill could be named as the backup opener
