Road Safety World Series’ opening match between India Legend and West Indies Legend was a nostalgic trip for the fans. Sachin & Lara’s classic shots, Sehwag’s first ball four, Chanderpaul’s batting stance, Zaheer Khan’s bowling action and Yuvraj Singh’s vintage batting at Wankhede Stadium took fans back to childhood days.

India Legend vs West Indies Legend Match Summary

India Legend captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and elected to bowl first. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Daren Ganga opened the innings for West Indies Legend. Daren Ganga started hammering India bowlers from the first over. However, Zaheer Khan’s inswinger helped India get rid of Ganga as the opener bowled scoring 32.

Later, Brian Lara too stumped out off Irfan Pathan’s delivery. Lara scored 17 runs which include 4 mesmerizing boundaries. However, Shivnarine Chanderpaul had set his feet at the one end. The opener’s 61 off 41 balls helped West Indies Legend give a 151-run target to India legend. Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha picked two wickets each during the innings.

The legendary opening pair Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag started off the things for India. Sehwag smashed two fours in very first two balls of the innings. The duo gave a solid start and didn’t let Windies team break the partnership in the first 10 overs. Tendulkar was out scoring 36 runs in 29 balls in the 11th over.. Later, Mohammad Kaif joined Sehwag at the middle.

Yuvraj Singh Six

We witnessed 18 fours during India Legend’s batting yesterday. But the only six during the innings came off Yuvraj Singh’s bat. The six came in 17th over of the match which was bowled by Dinanath Ramnarine. It was a flighted delivery from the bowler and Yuvraj Singh slogged it to straight down the ground. Sehwag was seen enjoying the shot at the non-striker’s end. Below is the video of Yuvraj Singh six.

Later in the over Sehwag hit two fours and made the things easy for India Legend. India needed 5 runs in the last 12 balls. Sehwag finished the match with a four and his unbeaten 74 in 57 balls took India to a 7-wicket win in the inaugural match of Road Safety World Series.
