Adelaide Oval Pitch Report for AUS vs ENG ODI, Ground Records, Weather Forecast

England and Australia will be playing a 3-match ODI series which starts this week at the Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report

After the T20 carnival in Australia where the England Cricket Team emerged victorious, a 3-match ODI series is to be held between England and Australia. The arch-rivals will be facing each other on Thursday in the 1st game, at the Adelaide Oval. The second and third ODI will be played in Sydney and Melbourne on Nov 19 & 22 respectively. In this space, we have discussed the ODI Records and the Pitch Report of the Adelaide Oval cricket ground for the 1st AUS vs ENG ODI.

This series is going to be the first ODI series for Pat Cummins as the full-time ODI captain of the Australian side. Cummins would hence be looking to kick off his 50-over captaincy with a series win on home soil. Buttler and his men, on the other hand, are seemingly enjoying the Australian conditions. Having won the T20 series against the hosts last month and then the T20 WC, Buttler would be eyeing another series win down under.

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report for AUS vs ENG ODI

The Adelaide Oval pitch is of batting-friendly nature. The batters find it easy to get going here and generally target the short square boundaries to score quick runs. The straight boundaries are longer here, hence are hard to clear. The bowlers can therefore bowl accordingly in order to contain the batsmen. The pacers would need to bowl hard lengths as there isn’t much help on the surface. The pitch might get a bit slow later on in the innings hence the spinners may find little purchase at some point.

Batting first after winning the toss is a safer option at the Adelaide Oval. A score of around 260 would be a good total at this venue.
