The league stage of the BBL 2020-21 season is almost over. Only 4 matches are left ahead of the play-offs. Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers have claimed their spots in the playoffs as both are at the top table with 32 points each. On the other hand, Melbourne Renegades have no chances left to qualify for the top 5 spots as they are bottom at the table with just 13 points. Now the race for the playoffs is between 5 teams including Adelaide Strikers.

Bizarre incident in Adelaide Strikers match

Adelaide Strikers keep their hopes alive by winning against Sydney Thunder yesterday. However, a bizarre incident happened during the must-win game as opener Jake Weatherald got run out at both ends in a single delivery. The incident took place during the 10th over. Phillip Salt played one of Adam Milne’s ball straight as an arrow. Milne got his hand on the ball and it dislodged the bails on the bowling end.

Amidst the bowling team appealed the batsmen tried to steal a single. This time the throw came at the batting end but Thunder keeper Sam Billings was a poor one and it seemed like Weatherald almost made it to the other end. The bowling team was unsure about both run-outs but replays showed the opener fell short of the crease on both sides. Jake had to for after scoring 31. Here is the video of the incident.

The commentators were amazed at what they saw. “Jake Weatherald, what’s he doing!? Terrible running,” Brendon Julian said on Fox Cricket commentary.

Former Australia cricketer Mark Waugh added: “He wasn’t even backing up that far either, and he’s still out … I think he’s got to work on his running between wickets. Seriously, he’s got to concentrate more.”
