Afghanistan vs Bangladesh: Rashid Khan Breaks 15 Years Old Record

Currently, Afghanistan is on the tour of Bangladesh to play the only Test match. Meanwhile, a special record has created on the very first day of the Bangladesh vs Afghanistan. When the new captain Rashid Khan arrived for the toss, he broke the 15-years-old record. Actually, he became the youngest Test captain ever in the history of 5-Days Match format.

After the World Cup 2019, Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to handover the captainship of all formats to the youngest Rashid Khan. Khan is currently 20 years old and he has already made a name in the world with his capability of leg-spinning. Rashid surpassed Tatenda Taibu’s record which the Zimbabwean set in 2004. Taibu first led Zimbabwe against Sri Lanka in 2004 at Harare.

“(I am) pretty excited. It is a new role to be a captain of the team and will try my best to be positive and enjoy the game,” Rashid told to reporters.

However, still, Afghanistan has to learn many things to lift their team. And with the younger captain, they have enough time to prepare for the next world cup.

ICC Granted Test Membership To Afghanistan Back in 2017

After performing good in limited-overs cricket, Afghanistan had its test membership on 22 June 2017. And they have played their first Test match against India in India on June 14, 2018.

Meanwhile, after Bangladesh vs Afghanistan only Test Match, Afghanistan has to play T20I Tri-Series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh. The series is starting from 13th September 2019.
