All the Indian cricket fans went down the memory lane when team India unveiled their jersey for the Australian tour. The jersey reminded everyone of the 1992 World Cup which was the first time ever in cricketing history that the tournament was played in colour. Prior to that, all the teams donned white jerseys in the World Cup. The retro jersey Indian players are wearing is surely a reminiscent of the history of Indian cricket. Now the news is that team India will be seen in a different jersey in Tests too.
After losing the ODI series against Australia, team India fought back and won the third ODI and started the T20 series on a confident note. The comeback by team India after the defeat in the first two ODIs has raised the excitement level of the tour. Virat Kohli led side won the first T20 by 11 runs taking the lead in the series. They will be playing to take an unassailable lead against the Aussies on Sunday.
Team India will don a jersey with a bigger sponsor logo
While Kohli and his boys are gearing up for the second T20, Ajinkya Rahane is leading India ‘A’ in their practice match against Australia ‘A’. When the Indian players stepped on the ground today, they were seen wearing a different jersey. Generally, players wear plain white jerseys in the Test format of the game sporting a small sponsor logo on the chest and sleeve, but this time it was different.
The change in the jersey came after ICC introduced some new rules following the outbreak of Coronavirus. The measures were taken to help resume cricket around the world while battling the challenges posed by the pandemic. The jersey that the Indian players are wearing has a big sponsor logo in the front. This move was made by the ICC to help different cricket boards earn more profit which they have lost due to the pandemic.
Teams like Pakistan, England, West Indies and New Zealand have been seen wearing jerseys with a bigger sponsor logos, however this will be the first time for the Indian team to do so.
