Arshdeep Singh set for County Championship debut in Kent vs Surrey match

The Indian speedster is all set for his maiden County stint with Kent Cricket Club.

The Indian fast-bowling sensation Arshdeep Singh is set to join county club Kent in the ongoing County Championship. He has been on target of the Kent scout since his outstanding performance in the T20 series in England last year. Arshdeep Singh set for County Championship which has made the headlines since the announcement.

The Punjab-born pacer has recently experienced another great IPL season bagging 17 wickets in the 14 games he played this season. He was the only knight in shining armor for Punjab once again. Expect him none of the Punjab bowlers looked effective in the IPL 2023.

Arshdeep is set to make his county debut against Surrey on Sunday

The left arm quick fast bowler is ready to play his inaugural County game. His performance with Indian colors made many county clubs interested to sign him but in the end, Kent dealt the final blow. Kent signed him back in March but due to players unavailability, he will manage to play only 5 games for the club.

He will play his debut game against County Giants Surrey at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence. It will be a real task for the youngster to trouble the likes of Ollie Pope, Laurie Evans, and Ben Foakes in the match. However, if he managed to impress every with the red ball then his chances of getting called up in the Indian red ball side will be very likely.

Coach Rahul Dravid motivates Arshdeep for a new chapter in his career

The Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has heaped his player for the move to County Championship. Arshdeep himself told in an interview that his coach Rahul is absolutely pleased with his decision as it will give him the right exposure with the red ball as well.

In addition, Arshdeep also said “I am excited to be a part of Kent. “I will look to take wickets for my new team. Rahul Dravid told me that it’s a big club with a great history,”

The youngster is looking to seal his place as a three-format player for India

The 24-year-old is different from the other Indian bowlers as he is a left-arm bowler in addition he can swing both ways with a great pace as well. His unique qualities have made Kent buy him for the current County season.

It will be interesting to see how the youngster will be able to adapt to a completely different ball game.
