BCCI has made it clear that they are not going to send Team India in Pakistan if the country hosts Asia Cup 2020. The relation between India and Pakistan board has not been good since 2013. Last time both nations had played a bilateral series in 2013 which was hosted by India. India last toured Pakistan back in 2006.
Pakistan Cricket Board has many time tried to persuade BCCI to play a bilateral series but the Indian board has found it better to maintain the distance from the Pak board. However, BCCI the mighty board has made it clear that they are not forcing the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to change the host of the tournament but India will like to skip Asia Cup 2020 if Pakistan hosts it.
ACC’s Decision on Asia Cup 2020
Now Asian Cricket Council has given a reply from their side. An ACC source told that it will be Pakistan’s call if they want to give up the hosting or not. ACC source told, “ACC will have a meeting sometime in February to discuss issues related to the hosting of the Asia Cup this year. This year Pakistan is the host so it is Pakistan’s call if they want to host the tournament or not,”
Pakistan is desperate to host the Asia Cup 2020 as they want to bring bigger level cricket to the nation. So they are unlikely to give up the hosting. The likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have visited Pakistan recently.
India and Pakistan’s ties became worse after the Pulwama attack in 2019. India were not even in the mood of playing Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2019. But the match went as per plan and India had easily beaten Pakistan in the match. Since then India and Pakistan have not played against each other.
