The fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is going to be held in Australia. The marquee event will start from 16th October with the clash between Sri Lanka and Namibia. All the teams are sweating it out and working on their team combinations to make sure they enter the field in the T20 World Cup with their A team. Amidst all these preparations, Australia has announced their squad for the event and Tim David has got a maiden call-up.
Tim David gets an opportunity to play for Australia
The 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup saw Australia lift the trophy after they trumped New Zealand in the final and won the match by 8 wickets. The tournament is now going to take place on their own soil and they will be looking forward to giving a solid performance. They have become the first team to announce the squad for the T20 World Cup which has only one change and that is Singapore-born Tim David.
For the uninitiated, Tim David was acquired by Mumbai Indians in the Mega Auction for Rs.8.25 crore and the right-handed batsman showed sparks of his swashbuckling batting for the franchise. The Singapore-born lad was at his best during the Big Bash League where he played for Hobart Hurricanes. After his brilliant performance in IPL and BBL, the cricketer has now got an opportunity to represent the Australian team in T20 World Cup.

“Tim continues to establish himself with some quality performances in leagues around the world, earning a place in the squad. He is a highly gifted, natural ball striker who will add extra batting depth to the group which has had a lot of success in T20 cricket. We expect him to play a similar role to that he has been playing in the past few years,” said chairman of selectors George Bailey.

It is noteworthy that team Australia has not made any other changes except for Tim David who comes in the place of Mitchell Swepson, who was instrumental in Australia’s success in the last edition of the T20 World Cup which was held in UAE. It is going to be interesting to see how Tim performs on the biggest stage of cricket. Needless to say, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Tim and he will try to make the most of it.
