The sport of cricket keeps on giving its fans moments to celebrate and cherish for the rest of their lives. As much as the fans are emotionally invested in the sport, cricketers also give it their all on the field.

However, luck also plays a crucial factor in the outcome of matches. Match 2 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) witnessed a remarkable run-out that turned out to be unfortunate for the batsman, Andre Russell.

As Khulna Tigers opted to bowl first, the openers of Minister Group Dhaka neutralised toss’ advantage. After a good start, Dhaka lost the plot in the middle overs.

Mahmudullah tried to keep control of the innings and he was joined by Russell in the middle. However, their partnership could not last long, courtesy of a never-seen-before run-out.

The 15th over of the first innings saw a bizarre moment unfolding as Russell steered a delivery bowled by Thisara Perera to the third-man. In a bid to inflict a run-out, fielder threw the ball at the striker’s end.

By the time ball hit the stumps, Mahmudullah had made it to the batting crease safely. But unfortunately for Russell, the ball ricocheted and blew off the bails as it smashed the stumps at the other end.

After the fielders appealed, replays at the giant screen showed that Russell’s bat was noway near the popping crease. This resulted in a run-out as the all-rounder walked back to the dressing room after playing a 7-run knock.

Talking about the match, Minister Group Dhaka scored 183 runs in their quota of overs. Their openers Mohammad Shahzad and Tamim Iqbal shone brightly as they gave their side an opening partnership of 69 runs.
