Sydney Thunder have sacked left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi with immediate effect following an official hearing over his alleged inappropriate behavior a few days ago.
The complaint was registered against Fazalhaq after an incident that took place last Thursday (December 15) and following an official hearing over the same, the Afghanistan pacer was thrown out of the Big Bash League (BBL).
Playing in the Big Bash League for the first time, Farooqi had impressed one and all during the first four matches for the Thunder, taking 5 wickets at an average of 18.60.

The club had received a complaint against the left-arm pacer and referred it to Cricket Australia (CA) for further investigation. The investigation was followed by an official hearing after which Farooqi’s BBL contract was terminated.
Cricket New South Wales CEO Lee Germon said: “The behaviours displayed by Fazalhaq Farooqi sit outside our values and it was determined that his contract be terminated. Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident”.
The club and Cricket Australia have kept the details of Farooqi’s behavioral breach private.
The Courier Mail, however, reports that the contract nullification owes itself to Fazalhaq Farooqi harassing female cricketing staff during Sydney Thunder’s 15 all-out against the Strikers.
Sydney Thunder had signed Fazalhaq Farooqi for the first nine matches of the tournament as cover for their marquee pick David Willey after the former’s T20 WC performances left the franchise in his awe.

Hopes were pinned on Farooqi to lead the 2016 Big Bash League (BBL) champions bowling attack and in the process, raise the Afghan flag high at the international stage. Though the pacer appeared capable of fulfilling the first requirement, his actions have done the war-stricken nation anything but proud.
