The BBL 2023-24 season is on the brink of crowning its champion, with only two matches remaining. The Sydney Sixers have already stamped their ticket to the final, and the winner of the upcoming clash between the Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers will join them as the second finalist. The Challenger match will take place at Carrara Oval Stadium in Queensland on January 22. The same venue hosted the Qualifier match, in which the Sydney Sixers secured their place in the final.
Carrara Oval, Queensland has served as a neutral venue in the Big Bash League. This year, the venue was slated to host two playoff games: the Qualifier and the Challenger. The Qualifier game has already concluded, and Monday will feature the HEA vs STR Challenger match.

The Queensland pitch has consistently favored pace bowlers. With the new ball, seam bowlers may hold the upper hand over batters. Teams may prefer to bowl first here to take advantage of the favorable conditions. However, if the opposition manages to post a good total, this strategy can backfire. Chasing a total above 160 can be particularly challenging at this venue.

As mentioned earlier, Queensland hosted the Qualifier match of the BBL 2023-24 season. The match, played on January 19, featured table-toppers Sydney Sixers against Brisbane Heat. Opting to bowl first proved to be a good decision for Brisbane, as their bowlers restricted the Sixers to a score of 152.
However, the chasing didn’t go as expected for the Heat. While Brisbane didn’t lose any wickets in the power-play, in the 7th over, opener Josh Brown was dismissed which triggered a collapse in the team’s batting order. The Heat were bowled out for 113 runs and as a result, Sydney Sixers made their way to the final.
