BCCI announces IPL 2023 Playoffs dates & venues; Ahmedabad to host the Final

The IPL 2023 Playoffs will be played from May 23 to May 28.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on April 21 announced the entire schedule and venue details of the IPL 2023 playoffs and final. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the IPL 2023 final on May 28 for the second consecutive time after it’s revamp in 2021.

Dates and Venue for IPL Final and Playoffs

MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on May 23 and May 24. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Qualifier 2 and the IPL 2023 final on May 26 and 28 respectively.

This will be for the second consecutive time that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be hosting the IPL final as it hosted the IPL 2022 final as well. It has a capacity of 132,000 and is the largest cricket stadium in India.

The Chepauk Stadium in Chennai will be hosting an IPL playoff game for the first time since 2019. The Chennai Super Kings are currently doing pretty well and are placed at the number 3 position in the points table and will expect to contest in the playoff at the Chepauk Stadium.

Defending Champions Gujarat Titans too will be hoping to book a slot in the playoffs and then take the advantage of home conditions in Ahmedabad. They had defeated Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 final by 7 wickets as Ahmedabad had hosted it’s first ever IPL final.

The first and the second placed team in the points table will contest against each other at Chennai on the 23rd of May with the winner booking a ticket to the final, while the losing side will play the Qualifier 2 with an additional chance to make it into the final.

The third and fourth placed teams will contest against each other in the Eliminator game on the 24th of May in Chennai. The winner of the Eliminator will then face the loser from Qualifier 1 and the two teams will clash in the Qualifier 2.

The winner from Qualifier 2 will then face the winner from Qualifier 1 in the IPL 2023 Final. The two teams will then look to clinch the title at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.

May 23rd – Qualifier 1 (Chennai)

May 24th – Eliminator (Chennai)

May 26th – Qualifier 2 (Ahmedabad)
